Coursework Advice - Things to Remember

This week:


1. Remember to work on your scripts, your storyboards and your treatments for your thriller opening - Even though you may have done this as a group, you each need them saved onto your blog.


2. Watch other thrillers, especially the beginnings of them, to focus on the features of them and how you can use this in your own work.


3. Update your blog and evaluation.

4. Your planning and research is due in on 11 February. You must meet this deadline.

Feedback from Exam Practice - Mrs Hooper

Main points to help you improve:

1. Add more relevant case studies to your essays.
2. Use more terminology.
3. Link each paragraph to the question.
4. Use Working Title and Atonement in all answers.
5. Add as many 'bullet points' to your essays to show an examiner the breadth of your knowledge.

Mrs Massey's Homework - 10th December 2008

Students who owe essays are to hand them to Mrs Massey by Thursday 3pm.

Discuss the representation of gay sexuality in the first episode of 'Shameless'

You need to use the scenes set out in the worksheet which focus on Lip and his brother Ian. How are the camera work, editing, mise-en-scene and sound used to represent to the audience a viewpoint on homosexuality.

Finally, consider how equilibrium is restored.

Homework for Monday 15th December

Either:

Write up your notes from the lesson on Wednesday 10th Dec discussing the representation of the Gallagher family in 'Shameless'.

or

Watch a t.v. drama and devise a question about representation which you then attempt to answer.

Use all your notes and knowledge to answer this question:

How do film companies target their audiences and what issues does this raise? Use examples from the British film industry to justify your ideas.

Plan your answer first for about 20 mins, including all the gap-filling exercises we have done recently. Write for no more than an hour. Include as many case studies as you can.
Make sure you consider the following:

1. Read your Digital Responsibilities booklets Section 4. Answer questions 2-5 at the bottom of the second page.

2. Use the links at the right of this blog to research British Film more. Look especially at the distribution of 'The Boat That Rocked'.

1. From Friday's Lesson - Read the Digital Responsibilities booklet and answer the questions given on the first 2 double pages. Think about how you could write about this in your answer on the film industry.

2. From Monday's Lesson - You need to read the Sight and Sound article on 'This is England' and identify why this film is typically aimed at a British audience.

3. Keep researching the British film industry, adding to your notes.
